VIDEO: SC Republicans round out slate of delegates for convention

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -South Carolina has rounded out its slate of delegates for the Republican National Convention later this summer. Party activists gathered Saturday to elect 26 delegates to complete the state’s 50-member contingent.

Earlier Saturday, top Republicans including Gov. Nikki Haley preached a message of unity to around 500 people gathered for the state’s annual Republican convention. Haley said Republicans can do great things when they are united but made no mention of the party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump during her remarks. She also criticized the Republican-dominated Legislature.

Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster says the country needs a leader like the billionaire businessman to defeat Democrats in November. McMaster was the highest ranking state official to endorse Trump before the state’s February presidential primary.
