Oppressive Heat in Upper Midwest
Yes it’s hot here, but it’s hotter in Minnesota. That’s because the humidity is so high there. Check out this map of what it felt like (heat & humidity combined) in southern Minnesota this afternoon. Some places hit 120°! So why does it feel so hot? It’s the humidity. During the summer the humidity in that part of the country rises a lot because of something called evaportranspiration. That’s when water evaporates from plants and goes into the air. Remember that there are a lot of crops grown there.
