LEXINGTON, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County is weeks away from going live with a new 9-1-1 Dispatch system.
ABC Columbia’s Grace Joyal has details on the system from its home at the county’s communications center off Ball Park Road.
The New PRO Q-A system will start August 1st.
It will handle all EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement calls.
The county’s call volume has grown with its population…last year, the center received around 440-thousand calls for service. “We want to serve all of our community, but we have to do so in a way that respects that fact that if that high acuity ambulance in your community is handling a low acuity call, then they’re not available to run the heart attack of the stroke, where time is of the essence.”
