Soldier Dies at Fort Jackson

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– A soldier at Fort Jackson died Thursday following an Army physical fitness test, say Base officials.

The soldier, who was attending the Senior Leader Course, collapsed after finishing a two-mile run, according to officials with the Fort.

The soldier was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead at 7:56 a.m, according to a release from the Fort.

The soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the incident is under investigation.
