Richland County Elevates Emergency Operations to manage Evacuees
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Richland County says it has elevated its emergency operations to better manage evacuees leaving the coast ahead of Hurricane Matthew.
The County’s Emergency Operations Center is currently at OPCON 3, officials say that means it is a level which indicates a disaster or emergency situation is likely or imminent. Richland County is one of the area’s designated host counties for coastal region evacuations.
Richland County and other government offices will be closed through Friday.
Dent Middle School is scheduled to open to accept evacuees, according to Richland County Officials.
