SC Emergency Response Team Lowers Emergency Status after Flood

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The State Emergency Response Team has lowered its emergency status from Operation Three to OPCON Four. However, Emergency officials continue to monitor and provide aid and relief as the state recovers from Hurricane Mathew.

State officials say flooding in some counties remain a major concern. Officials are closely monitoring the Waccamaw, Little Pee Dee and Lumber rivers.

Forecasters say the Waccamaw River could remain at major flood stage for at least 10 days. Officials say they expect the Lumber River will remain in major flood stage through Monday.

SC EMD Officials say state agencies continue to support local relief missions in Dillon, Horry, Marion and Williamsburg counties where residents are either evacuated due to flooding or are in need of immediate relief supplies. Officers with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources continue water patrols in and around Colleton, Horry, Georgetown, Jasper and Marion counties.
