Staley starts first Team USA mini camp

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Dawn Staley officially welcomed USA Basketball to the Midlands Friday, opening her first training camp as head coach of the National Team at Carolina Coliseum.

After being introduced as the successor to UConn’s Geno Auriemma back in March, Staley is set to lead the six-time defending Olympic gold medalists into the 2018 FIBA World Cup in Spain and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

This mini camp runs through Sunday, as the Gamecocks head coach starts to work with some of the best players in the world and build towards reaching the high standard set over the Stars and Stripes history.
