CIU purchase blighted properties along Monticello Road in hopes of economic development

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Columbia International University is hoping to spur economic development along Monticello Road.

On Tuesday afternoon, University officials announced the purchase of seven blighted properties in the area.

The buildings at those locations are being demolished and leaders hope they will be replace by thriving businesses.

Columbia International’s leaders say it was time for a change.
