Driver dies after a fiery vehicle collision on South Lake Drive in Lexington

LEXINGTON CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fiery collision on Wednesday.

Coroner Margaret Fisher says Maurice Myers, 58, died on South Lake Drive near New Orangeburg Road from his injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says it happened after 12 p.m.

According to investigators, Myers was driving a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, when he veered off the left side of the road, hit a tree, then overturned and struck another tree.

Authorities say the vehicle caught fire afterwards.

Troopers say it’s unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.
