Sumter Police: 13 year old shot and killed, friends in custody

SUMTER CO., S.C.(WOLO)– Sumter Police say a 13-year-old has died after a shooting and two of his friends now face charges.

Police say it happened Sunday at a home off Flamingo Road.

According to officials, officers responded to a shooting call at 12:08 p.m. where they found 13-year-old Akeem Pugh wounded next to a parked car at a home.

The teen was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey, where he was pronounced dead, say officers.

Sumter Police say they have charged a 12-year-old, who was with him, with involuntary manslaughter and a 17-year-old is charged with accessory before the fact.

Both are being held at a state Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
