RCSD: 22-year-old arrested after unlawfully entering victim’s home

Jerod Goodwin is accused of unlawfully entering a home and pointing a weapon at victims following a verbal argument.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A 22-year-old man was arrested after unlawfully entering a home in the 900 block of Frasier Street on Wednesday, Nov.1, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Richland County deputies say they responded to a call about someone unlawfully entering a home and pointing a weapon at people after an argument.
Jerod D. Goodwin is being charged with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm and possession of a pistol during a violent crime.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says Goodwin was released on bond after previously being charged with the killing of 28-year-old Genesis Williams on Dominion Drive in August 2021.
“Just another example of catch and release, out on bond for murder and commits another crime with a gun. Individuals like Goodwin have to stay in jail until trial because they are a threat to our community,” Sheriff Leon Lott said.
According to Sheriff Lott, Goodwin was arrested without incident at a residence off Ripplemeyer Avenue and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
