Deceased Fort Jackson soldier identified
Fort Jackson, S.C. (WOLO)–Officials with Fort Jackson have released the identity of a soldier found deceased last week.
Officials say Sgt. 1st Class Joshua A. Alfieri was found at his on-post residence March 21st.
A base spokesperson says Alfieri was a decorated officer who served more than 15 years and had been a drill sergeant as recently as November of 2023.
“Losing a teammate is never easy,” Maj. Gen. Jason E. Kelly, Fort Jackson commanding general said. “It’s tough on us all because we place so much emphasis on team cohesion and taking care of each other”.
