2020 tax filing deadline ending soon
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Time is running out as the deadline approaches to file for missing 2020 stimulus payments and tax refunds.
Typically taxes are due each year in April and there is a 3 year window in which taxes can be filed.
During the pandemic the IRS extended it to May.
The tax clinic at the USC Rice School of Law is able to help those whose household income falls below the 250% of the federal poverty level.
Clint Wallace with the tax clinic says this is an opportunity for anyone who has not yet filed their 2020 tax return to get a refund of their withholdings estimated taxes, refundable credits or missed stimulus checks from the pandemic.
Wallace says taxpayers have to move quickly as it’s less than 5 days left to meet the deadline which is Friday, May 17th.
