Red Cross searching for blood donors

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– As Summer kicks into high gear with family vacations and outdoor fun, it’s easy to overlook a critical need, blood donations.

While we enjoy the season, many are spending their Summer in hospitals.

According to the Red Cross, about 20 thousand fewer blood donations were collected over the past month than needed to maintain the Red Cross national blood supply.

The Red Cross is urging the community to donate blood now and throughout the Summer to ensure doctors have the blood they need for patients.

The Red Cross says you can sign up to donate blood online or by calling 1-800-Red-Cross.
