Who needs France when the Food Olympics are in Columbia
Tyler Ryan gets all the deets about the very first Restaurant Summer Games
COLUMBIA SC (WOLO) – Although the big games are set to kick off in France, back here in Columbia, there is a different kind of food competition, according to Hampton Street Vineyard’s Jonathan Lopez, the Columbia Restaurant Summer Games promises to bring all the thrills to the Capital City.
Lopez says that the games are event themed where restaurants will represent different countries, inspired by their cuisine, and offer folks not only an opportunity to experience various food and cocktail options, but the various staff will also compete in a myriad of competitions outside the kitchen, including a martini dash, cocktail competition, and even have opening ceremonies and a metal presentation. One important aspect to the Games is that each restaurant will raise money for a local charity near and dear to them, so it will stay local as well.
The Games will take place on August 4 at Boyd Plaza in downtown Columbia.
