Operations resume at CAE after incident reported on runway

UPDATE: CAE officials say as of 3:45 p.m. the disabled aircraft that was impacting operations at the airport has been removed from the runway.

Also, officials say after a full inspection, the runway has been cleared to restart operations.

At this time, there is no information as to the cause of the aircraft becoming disabled.

All flights have resumed arriving into and departing CAE.

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Officials at Columbia Metropolitan Airport say the travel hub cannot operate as regularly scheduled due to an incident on a runway.

An airport spokesperson says just after 1:30pm Tuesday, a small general aviation aircraft became disabled after landing.

No injuries were reported, however, we are told the plane remains disabled on the runway.

Officials say all passengers should go to  www.FlyCAE.com for more information on how individual flights may be affected.

CAE says it will provide an update to this developing situation as more information is made available.
