Settlement reached with Mercedes, Daimler

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State Attorney General Alan Wilson says Mercedes-Benz broke the law, and now it’s paying up.

Wilson announced a $150 million settlement with the luxury car maker, and Daimler.

The companies are accused of using illegal software to cheat emissions tests on more than 211,000 diesel vehicles nationwide.

Now, South Carolina will receive just over $2 million, and impacted drivers could get up to $2,000 per impacted vehicle.
