Winter Weather: SC DOT prepping roads, Governor issues State of Emergency

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–SC Governor Henry McMaster has declared a State of Emergency ahead of the winter storm.
The governor’s order activates the South Carolina Emergency Operations plan, allowing state agencies to quickly mobilize resources.
And speaking of resources, crews from the South Carolina Department of Transportation are out on the roads, preparing for the winter weather this weekend.

SC DOT officials say they are monitoring conditions, treating roads and positioning equipment to respond quickly as the storm approaches.
They say taking these steps will help reduce ice formation and improve safety on roads.
