Lexington County officials confirm plane crash in Gilbert

 

 

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Lexington County Fire Services and EMS have confirmed a plane crash in the Gilbert area of Lexington County.

Officials say two people were onboard the small plane when it went down.

And no one was injured on the ground.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the passenger of the plane who died after the crash as Andrew Frederick Nichols, from Huntsville Alabama.

Officials say the single-engine plane’s engine lost power and crash on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026m around 9:25 a.m.

The coroner’s office along with the NTSB, and the FAA are continuing to investigate the crash.
