Victim airlifted by helicopter following Camden shooting

CAMDEN, SC (WOLO) — According to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, a person was shot in the leg in the 900 block of Bishopville Highway in Camden on Friday night.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on May 29, 2026, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person who had been shot in the leg in the 900 block of Bishopville Highway in Camden.

KCSO deputies say they arrived on scene around 7:15 p.m. — taking one suspect into custody, and providing medical aid to the victim by applying a tourniquet to the victim’s injured leg.

The victim was transported by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect was transported to the Kershaw County Detention Center.

Deputies say the suspect and victim are known to each other. At this time, investigators have no reason to believe anyone else was involved in the incident. They also say there is no danger to the public.
