U.S. Commerce Department bans Polestar EVs

(CNN)– The Commerce Department has banned polestar from selling new electric vehicles in the U.S.

That’s according to the EV company.

They say they were denied authorization to sell, starting with the 2027 model year, because of the “connected vehicle” rule.

It restricts the import or sale of vehicles that have hardware and software linked to China due to national security concerns.

Polestar is majority-owned by a Chinese automaker.

The company said it will continue to sell its existing stock in the U.S.

The Polestar 3 is manufactured at a Volvo plant in South Carolina.
