5 left displaced after fire in apartment building’s laundry room

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– Richland County firefighters worked fast to control a morning apartment fire, says CRFD.

Crews were called out to Wildewood South Apartments off of Sparkleberry Lane shortly after 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 20.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke coming from a first floor unit in one building and surrounding apartments were quickly evacuated.

After making entry firefighters located the fire in the laundry room of the apartment and extinguished it, says Columbia Richland Fire Dept.

All occupants of the building made it out safely and there were no injuries.

Five people have been left displaced due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.
