KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– KCSO has charged a North Carolina man after an investigation into a fatal incident in Lugoff, says the sheriff’s office.

On October 9, around 7:45 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a suicide on Willow Creek Boulevard in Lugoff.

Upon arrival to the area, deputies found a deceased person at the scene.

The cause of death was determined to be a crossbow arrow wound to the head, say deputies.

The victim’s boyfriend, Bradley Thompson, 37, of North Carolina, was at the scene when law enforcement arrived and stated that the incident was a suicide.

Investigators confirmed the crossbow involved belonged to Thompson.

Following an investigation by the KCSO, the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office, and SLED, investigators presented the findings to the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office for formal case review.

As a result of that consultation, an arrest warrant was issued charging Thompson with assisting person in committing suicide (S.C. Code Ann. § 16-3-1090).

Thompson surrendered himself to authorities and was booked into the Kershaw County Detention Center.

He has since been released on a $40,000 cash/surety bond.
