Study: Most SC women killed by men known to them
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A new report published by the “Violence Policy Center” shows that the state’s rate of female victims killed by men continues to top the national average.
The 2024 data is being highlighted locally by the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
According to the report, the state’s rate of women killed by men increased to 2.2 per 100,000 nearly twice the national average of 1.4.
That year 62 South Carolinian women were killed by men.
It also shows that nearly 90% of the victims knew their killer.
