Columbia holding July Fourth celebration early

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The city of Columbia is getting a jumpstart on the July Fourth holiday with a weekend family friendly celebration.

City officials say they are celebrating Independence Day on Saturday at downtown Finlay Park.

Organizers say there is a kids area with bounce houses and face painting. There are also karaoke options for children and adults and an arts and crafts show.

The evening wraps up at 10 p.m. with a fireworks show.

The whole event is free to the public, but there are concessions for sale.
