Columbia cabbie shot; drives self to hospital

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Columbia cab driver has been shot during a robbery, and police are trying to determine if the crime is related to two other recent taxi robberies at gunpoint.
Investigators say the victim was shot around 4:30 a.m. Saturday after picking up two men in front of a vacant home. The cabbie managed to drive himself to the hospital after he was wounded and is listed in critical condition.
Columbia police are trying to see if Saturday’s shooting is related to two other robberies. On June 24, two men approached a cab, fired a shot and demanded money. On June 26, a cab driver was robbed after picking up two men and a gun was fired.
Both of the June robberies also took place early in the morning.
