COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of West Columbia received a $10 million grant from the SC Rural Infrastructure Investment Program.
The funds will go towards water distribution-related projects in both residential and commercial areas inside and outside the city limits, say officials.
The grant will allow upgrades for over 45,000 linear feet of water, including 432 new services and 31 new fire hydrants.
In a press release provided to ABC Columbia News, Mayor Tem Miles says, “I am so thankful for the assistance from our state leaders in funding these much needed projects. This investment will allow us to better serve our local communities.”
The award will also aid the Lake Murray Water Treatment Plant expansion. The project aims to increase water treatment capacity and upgrade treatment technology.
