COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–The Richland County Sheriff’s Department on Friday unveiled what they say is new evidence in the case of missing teen, Gabbie Swainson. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that there are still two very active investigations taking place: One is to find Gabbiee and bring her home to her mother and the community. The second, Lott says, is building a case against Freddie Grant, who they suspect is responsible for kidnapping the teenager. Lott said DNA investigators found on bloody duct tape several weeks ago at Grant’s Elgin home matches that of Grant and Swainson and that scientists say the blood was put there at the same time. Also new is the reward amount for tips leading to an arrest and conviction has increased to more than $8,000. The sheriff is asking the community to come out for the Village at Sandhill’s “Night of Hope” vigil that will take place this Sunday at the shopping center in Northeast Columbia. Authorities say this will be an opportunity for the community to come out and support the family of Gabbiee Swainsonn.
