USC entering its Taylor era, offering class on pop icon Swift
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– In the upcoming spring semester, University of South Carolina officials confirm the school will offer a class on Taylor Swift.
Allen Wallace with the university’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management says the course’s full title is “Life is Just a Classroom:Taylor’s Version.”
Wallace says the class will focus on Swift’s business acumen and her “agency as a woman” in the music industry.
The course is being taught by Kate Blanton.
Wallace says Blanton will lead students in an examination of Swift’s career, including the re-recording of her songs in order to own her own music catalog, branding, social media, tour management and merchandising.
According to Wallace the students will also plan and host a Swift-themed event at the end of the class.
