US retail sales rebound after drop

(CNN)–Americans surprised economists with their spending in November.

According to a report from the Commerce Department, retail sales rebounded in November by .3% after declining in October.

Economists had expected another drop.

And excluding sales at gasoline stations, retail sales rose by an even stronger .6% last month.

The rebound points to the continued resilience of the U.S. consumer as inflation eases and the job market remains strong.
