Police: Woman Turns in Forged Diploma to Police

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Columbia Police have arrested a woman and charged her with forgery after they say she turned in a fake diploma with her employment application to Columbia Police. LaKeisha Danielle Bowman is charged with Forgery. Columbia police say Bowman gave CPD‘s Recruiting Officer a fake college diploma as part of her employment application. Bowman applied through the City of Columbia Human Resources Department for the position of a Class III Officer with the CPD, according to Columbia Police. Police say the false document stated that Bowman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from ITT Technical Institute in June 2009. Police say the Recruiting Officer became suspicious of the document after it was misspelled.
