Thieves steal $50,000 from Myrtle Beach water park

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Police say someone broke into the office at a Myrtle Beach water park and stole $50,000.
Investigators said the first employee showing up for work Sunday morning at Myrtle Waves Water Park noticed the office alarm system wasn’t on, while a second employee saw a ladder to the roof. They called police after noticing coins were scattered across the room and the vault was open.
Authorities say someone pried open the vault and took the money and also turned over a file cabinet. Wires to the security system were cut and a side door forced open.
Crime scene technicians were able to find some evidence in the office, but police did not detail what was found.
No arrests have been made.
