COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – When Gamecock fans head to Williams-Brice Stadium on September 17 for the first home game of the season, they’ll face a change getting into the stadium.

South Carolina Athletics announced a new “clear bag” policy last month that applies to all ticketed sporting events.

Columbia businesses have adopted to the change. While they report a steady stream of customers seeking the clear bags, they say there are still too many people who don’t know about the policy.

We visited three stores that carry different options for bags:

Todd & Moore

  • 620 Huger St.
  • $16.99, one option

Miss Cocky

  • 621 Gadsden St.
  • $14.99-$16.99, three options

Uptown Gifts

  • 1204 Main St.
  • $12.50-$32, two options

Here are the rules for bringing bags into the stadium:

Approved Bags

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ — A logo no larger than 4.5″ x 3.4″ can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ — approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap
  • Medically necessary items (after proper inspection at specified gates)

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to:

  • Purses larger than a clutch bag
  • Briefcases
  • Backpacks
  • Fanny packs
  • Cinch/Drawstring bags
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Computer bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Binocular cases
