Get ready for the 2024 season of the Firefl…I mean Grits

Tyler Ryan learns about the ball clubs name change and naming contest

COLUMBIA SC (WOLO) – For nearly a decade, the Columbia Fireflies have brought professional baseball to the Midlands, and this year, they have decided it is time for a name change…sort of.  According to Team President Brad Shank, for a few games this season, they will become their “alter ego,” the Grits.

Shank also said that there is an opportunity for fans to be a part of the name change, with a contest to name the Grits Mascot.
