FCC set to make cuts to internet subsidy program

(CNN)– Millions of low income Americans could soon loose most of their government benefit for high speed internet.

The ‘Affordable Connectivity Program’ or ACP is set to run out of funding by the end of April.

Congress has not yet approved new funding for the program.

The ACP provides monthly $30 discounts on internet service for low-income households.

The Federal Communications Commission said Tuesday that starting in May those discounts would be reduced to $14 a month.
