Baby dies after shooting incident in Lee County, 2 arrested in connection

 

LEE COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people in connection with multiple shooting incidents in Lee County, says the sheriff’s office.

On April 19, investigators responded to a shooting incident on Raccoon Road where a house was shot multiple times with 7 people inside. No one was reported as injured during the shooting.

On May 9, Lee County deputies responded to a shooting incident on Herbert Lane where a house was shot 49 times with 6 people inside, says LCSO.

During the shooting, one adult was struck multiple times and sustained injuries for which they have been treated.

And then a 9-month-old baby was also hit by gunfire. The baby named Benjamin Griffin III died as a result of the injuries on May 22, say Lee County deputies.

Also, on May 27, law enforcement responded to a shooting incident on Sumter Highway where a person was shot at while in the parking lot of a convenience store, say deputies.

The victim was not hit by gunfire but did receive minor injuries from debris caused by the shooting. Investigators say during the investigation into each shooting, two arrest were made.

Roshad Wilson, 25, and Rayquawn Commander,18, both from Lee County were both charged with 1 count of murder, 13 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of discharging firearms into a dwelling, and 3 counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Wilson was taken into custody at his home and Commander was taken into custody in Heflin, Alabama.
