Earliest Category 5 Hurricane in Recorded Atlantic History
Hurricane Beryl has strengthened to a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 160 mph. That makes it the earliest Category 5 storm in the Atlantic since records began in the mid 1800’s. The previous record was held by Hurricane Emily on July 17, 2005.
Beryl is expected to continue plowing through the Caribbean over the next several days. Stay tuned.
