South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn announced on X Tuesday that the midlands will receive $9 million to fight the climate crisis.

According to Clyburn, this investment aims to reduce emissions and extreme heat while creating good-paying jobs.

The funding is sourced from the Inflation Reduction Act which is the largest investment in fighting the climate crisis in the nation’s history according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

In addition, S.C. and three other states will receive $421 million to fight the climate crisis by investing in natural solutions like protecting coastal wetlands and forests, Clyburn said in his tweet.

He then goes on to thank President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their ongoing promise to protect the planet.
