Costco cracks down on membership sharers

(CNN)– The days of using your friend’s Costco membership card is over.

The retailer has announced it will be using scanning devices at store entrances where members will have to scan their card.

Members will have to show a valid photo ID if their card does not have a photo.

Costco says the scanning devices will be installed in the coming months.

That’s not the only change Costco is implementing as they try to crackdown on people sharing membership cards.

Guests will now have to be accompanied by a valid cardholder in order to enter its stores.
