AT&T in Columbia to show texting, driving dangers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — AT&T is bringing its campaign about the dangers of texting while driving to Columbia.

Company representatives will give people at one of its retail stores a chance to use a simulator that they say shows how dangerous it is to try to send a text message while behind the wheel.

In February, AT&T took its simulator to the South Carolina Statehouse, where lawmakers and members of the public could try it out. On Wednesday, AT&T says state Reps. Chip Huggins and Nathan Ballentine will be on-hand for a presentation.

AT&T says drivers who text while driving are 23 times more likely to be involved an accident than non-texting drivers.
