Man Killed After Boat Crashes Into Dock Identified
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WOLO)- The man killed after a boat crashed into a dock on Lake Murray Saturday morning has been identified.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Jimmy Gene Ayers, 57, of Lexington died at the scene from multiple traumatic injuries to the upper body that he sustained in the accident.
According to Capt. Robert McCullough with S.C. Department of Natural Resources, the incident happened at 6:00a.m near Wessinger Island and Heimatsweg Road on the Chapin side of Lake Murray in Lexington.
A nephew of the victim was transported to Palmetto Health Richland hospital with multiple non-life threatening injuries.
An autopsy will be performed on Monday to determine the cause of death.
South Carolina DNR is continuing to investigate the accident at this time.
