Infrastructure Bank learns about SC road projects

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A board that loans money for major South Carolina road construction has reviewed a list of seven interstate widening projects.

South Carolina Department of Transportation commissioners put together the list last month and gave information about the projects to the State Infrastructure Bank at a Wednesday meeting.

The seven projects cost a combined $1.7 billion. All but one of them is in the Upstate and Midlands. The projects will be eligible for a significant amount of federal money.

The DOT will finalize the list and how to pay for it at a meeting later this month. The Infrastructure Bank will begin the process of getting up to $500 million in bonds for the work and hopes to approve the list by October.

The projects represent 10 years of work.
