USDA Report: What led to Boar’s Head listeria outbreak

(CNN)– Inadequate sanitation at a Virginia food plant was largely to blame for last year’s multi-state listeria outbreak, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The tainted food, including liverwurst and other deli meats, was made at a Boar’s Head facility in Jarratt.

Boar’s Head started recalling products linked to listeria concerns in July 2024, and closed the plant a few months later.

The USDA previously announced insects, mildew, and mold were found at the facility.
