SC farmers market hosts Harvest Hope food drop

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Farmers Market is getting a special stall so vendors can donate fresh produce to the Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia.

South Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers says the new stall put in place Thursday allows farmers to share their bounty with families who need it.

The food bank will collect the fresh produce on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The state Agriculture Department will provide the stall space, signs, pallets, and a forklift to load products onto Harvest Hope’s truck.

Harvest Hope distributes food in a 20 county area throughout central South Carolina.
