Sumter Co. arrests man accused of assault & battery

Sumter Co., SC (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is releasing information on an arrest made following what authorities are calling a domestic disagreement. Authorities say the incident took place January 30th along North Main Street around 3:26 P.M.

Sumter County deputies responded to the area after dispatch altered them to a rolling
vehicle domestic incident. Authorities say the victim and witnesses, last Thursday
18 year old Emmit Zachary Bilton rammed the back of the victim’s vehicle while driving along Highway 15 North.

Deputies say the victim was able to drive to a nearby store with another adult and a child in order to get away from Bilton whose car was disabled forcing him to stop. Deputies say they located Bilton and he was placed under arrest and taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Bilton has since been released on a $50 thousand dollar surety bond.
