Cops: Teen took 17 guns in West Columbia burglary
LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Lexington County deputies say a teen took 17 guns from the home of a man he knew during a burglary earlier this month.
Sheriff James Metts says Richard Olin Jr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny.
Investigators say Olin broke into the man’s West Columbia home Aug. 13 and took the guns along with three diamond rings and other jewelry. Deputies say Olin’s mother did work for the man, and Olin knew he would be out of town on a deep-sea fishing trip.
The sheriff says Olin sold at least three of the guns, and four other firearms have not been found.
Olin is being held without bond at the Lexington County jail. It was clear if he had an attorney.
