Kershaw Co. Fire Service control woods fire

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– On Thursday, Kershaw County Fire Services firefighters controlled a woods fire in Bethune, said KCFS.

According to Fire Services, the fire happened in the 2000 block of Timrod Road in Bethune, shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.

When firefighters arrived to the scene, fire units found a fast moving woods fire that was threatening several structures.

The fire burned around 200 acres but fire crews were able to protect all structures in the area.

Fire officials said even though the fire is now contained smoke will be in the area for several days.

KCFS responded with 9 fire apparatus at the scene, while SC Forestry Commission responded with 5 bulldozers and air support.
