South Carolina adds 4 walk-ons to roster

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has added four walk-ons to the Gamecocks roster.

The school said Friday the newcomers are quarterback Austin Hails, safety Josh Woods, wide receiver Riley Gallaher and defensive end Jamal Hall.

Hails and Gallaher are freshmen. Woods walked on to South Carolina State in 2009 while Hall played at Brevard College that season.

The 12th-ranked Gamecocks went through conditioning drills Friday before Spurrier gave them the rest of the weekend off. South Carolina opens the season on Sept. 3 against East Carolina at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium.
