Columbia holds all day Main Street Latin Festival

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The sounds of salsa and other Latino-inspired music will hold sway on Columbia’s Main Street as the community celebrates with its annual Latin festival.

Columbia city officials say Saturday’s event lasts from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and features traditional Latin dancers, salsa music groups, and local artists’ displays.

Vendors are providing various foods featuring Latin cuisine, while gifts and souvenirs will be available for purchase.

The family-friendly event is sponsored by the Midlands Latin Community and is being held to mark Hispanic Awareness Month. The festival has been held every year since 2003.
