Haley scheduled to visit Florence welding company

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley is scheduled to attend the grand opening of a welding company’s new automated process center.

Haley is set to attend the ceremony Monday morning at ESAB Welding and Cutting Products in Florence.

The Commerce Department says the company has operated in Florence since 1966 and employs 550 people there. ESAB also has business offices in Columbia.

Haley’s office says the company spent $500,000 renovating a 5,000-square-foot space.

The company announced plans in April to open a new facility in Union County and create 100 jobs. That’s expected to open by the end of the year. The company plans to make welding wire in the new 250,000-square-foot building.
